About The Game
Created by Kate Howard, 13 year old student at Spectrum Online Academy.
This all started as a project at my school Spectrum Online Academy. We were doing a unit called Game On, using design thinking to create a game. I compared different board games to understand the similarities and differences of all game components. Created a survey to see what others like and dislike in a board game.
I was influenced by the current events of the Auckland flooding, seeing the destruction and heartbreak. This inspired me to create my game around the theme of survival. And it grew from there…
As I am part of the Surf Life Saving Club, I’m passionate about ensuring that people have a good time in the safest way. I care even more about this game because I believe that by creating it I’ll help people to be safer and better prepared for natural disasters.

Disaster Strikes! Includes one Game Board, and three sets of cards: 40 Survival Item cards, 12 Opportunity cards, and 12 Disaster! cards. 9 Disaster Survival Place Mats, 1 Rulebook. 6 tokens, and a die. It is packaged in a slimline travel case to make it portable and easy to store.
